Busy Spaces - People Come and People Go

Since October 2017, I have been drawing/painting something every day.  This began as a one month challenge, but as October 2017 finished, I realized I was NOT finished, and have continued since.  The art takes many forms, but I carry a 5 x 8" Moleskine watercolor book with me everywhere, and draw what I see.  I love capturing the busyness of the street, a restaurant, theater, stadium, park.... and it  has become a daily meditation, whether 15 minutes or several hours.  Here are some examples of these sketches.  You can follow me on Instagram at @jodypaints to see my daily work.

Day 271 "Consignment Treasures" pen & ink 6 x 9

Once each month I work at a local consignment shop.  It supports the Clift Rodgers Free Library, a small public library in town that supports itself through its consignment shop and fundraisers.  A few weeks ago I painted in the Library's garden tour, another fundraiser.  The shop always has a great collection of clothing and items, and is a nice place to catch up with neighbors when they stop in.
I drew the contour drawing inside the shop during a lull in the usual traffic, then added some shadow later using a Prismacolor warm gray marker.  I think the comparison is interesting, and am interested in your thoughts.
This is my two hundred seventy-first daily drawing.  Thank you for your continued interest in the world through my eyes.

Day 253 "Garden Tour" 9 x 6 ink, watercolor, pencils

Our community has a small public library, the Clift Rodgers Free Library and Consignment Shop.  It is open to the public, and totally self-supporting, through the consignment shop upstairs and its fundraising efforts.  Today was the annual garden tour to benefit the library.  I painted in this particular garden.  It's always nice to hear the gardeners chatting away about plant varieties and techniques.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day.  I sat in a vegetable patch in the garden, looking at beautiful lettuce, chard, strawberry plants, overseen by a cherub and an active birdhouse on a post. The main house was in the background with lots of visitors, lemonade, and cookies.  As I said, a lovely day. To the left you can see my painting without the garden fence where I sat.  I decided it needed the barest hint of the wire fence for context, else the column was detached and didn't make as much sense.
This is my two hundred fifty-third daily drawing.  Thank you for your continued interest in my view of the world.
